bob,

Try typing this:

sudo su
modprobe sk98lin
netcardconfig
exit
exit

To make these kind of settings permanent, you need to add the commands to your /opt/bootlocal.sh startup file.  You will also need to use the DSL backup/restore process.

Search the wiki or the forums for more detailed help on these subjects.

Thanks it worked this time.  Figuring out how to get the internet to work was my first hurdle now that I got that it should be easier to learn everything else since I don't have to keep switching back to windows in order to look stuff up.

This is driving me nuts. I can't figure it out. I have an intel PRO/1000 PM network connection and DSL won't detect it. I tried doing modprobe e1000, but that didn't work. I get insmod errors. Is there any ways to fix this?

Hmm...

I have an Intel PRO/1000 MT

and DSL autodetects and loads it just fine.

If you open the "System Stats" program and look under the PCI tab, what is the description and PCI ID number for your network card?
