If you'd bothered to read the link I provided, you'd see that you don't have to go through all those machinations just to use TTFs in Abiword.

the problem is... i don't need to use it in abiword
i need to use it in a gtk based app, and i found this app had a problem loading new fonts, and meanwhile abiword too had those problem

so i guessed was a system's problem, not an abiword (and app) problem. Solving this issue for abiword could be not enought to solve it for my app :(

btw, maybe it could give some hint to where is the problem; i'd check the link asap :)

PS: just to note, i followed instruction on the link i posted... but not being able to install the package they said ;_;

You originally wrote and have since deleted *Abiword*, which is why I referred you to their site. Search the forums for how to add TTFs.

That's the price you pay for using Debian -- which is why I think DSL should drop dpkg altogether. Are you using Woody or Sarge or what? You could try compiling it yourself against the libs you already have.
