4236A ... That makes sense..

For starters , try the usual crystal commands from a root shell
Just to see if you get a response..

" rmmod soundcore "
" modprobe uart401 "
" modprobe cs4232 io=0x530 irq=5 dma=1 dma2=0 mpuio=0x330 mpuirq=5 "

You should see no errors when entering these lines.
Only a return to the prompt:

Once complete, use the ctrl-alt-bksp combination to exit X .
then restart X by typing "startx"
You should see the wmix app in the lower right hand corner.

let us know...

And again, searching the forums with the search function set
for "4232" or "crystal" reveals a lot of posts and answers.

I went ahead and did a sound config where it saids there is no PnP or PCI sound card were found on my system and I had to select a sound card from the default list. I have no idea what is the sound card on m laptop.

if it worked without configuration from livecd then it should from hd.
it is ok to run the setup while in x, but it is a complicated setup program so avoid if possible.
