open it...edit it like this:

aumix -v100 -c100 -i100 -l100 -o100 -p100 -s100 -w100 -1 100
/sbin/syslogd

look at cbaggers aumix link above to see if you want to add anything or leave anything out. My old laptop has an external volume control so I like it to boot up with all the "software" volumes maxed. Hope this helps!
