Is wpa really necessary?  I have heard wep/wpa/wpa2 are pretty much easily 'crackeable'... I wonder if anyone did attempt to backport any newer version though.

Not really... the most time was spent trying to figure out which patches/versions I could readily obtain.  If you want a step by step procedure, just ask (hopefully I can reproduce them).

No.  I think the maker of the 2.4.31 mydsl extensions had reported success on compiling them, but having fatal errors upon usage.

Sorry, but only wep is. Wpa is impossible with current power, it has pretty much no weak spots (uses AES!). Wpa2 is even stronger. Wpa/2 are only crackable with trying passwords, a dictionary attack, which makes them impossible to crack even with a short pass like "comp#uter".


:p  this all is of course in the sense I've never used, tried nor heard anything about it :D
