This odd behavior only affects Firefox, and has persisted through a reboot.. Now that I've managed to resize the window it doesn't really bother me, but it's odd all the same.

It isn't odd, it's expected. Shut it down at the size you want it to restart and it should. If that doesn't "fix" it, you may have to find whichever file the settings for firefox and edit the size to whatever you want manually.
