I have edited the .xserverrc file and the resolution has gotten bigger when I rebooted.  I would like to confirm that it is indeed a 1280x960, how would I do it?

The only way I know is to use xwininfo.  But DSL does not have that.  Is there a way to varify the screen size or resolution with existing tools?

A small point - you don't need to reboot, just use exit window manager on the right-click menu and then startx from the terminal prompt.

I'm used to xrandr, but that's not included in default DSL either.  One way would be to take a full sized screenshot of your desktop, and see the dimensions of the image.
