Hi.

I had a look on the forums and couldn't find the answer to this anywhere.

How would you go about changing to a version of ICE Wm you downloaded through synaptic rather than the mydsl version?

If it has already been downloaded and installed then change your ~/.xinitrc file by replacing the "fluxbox" line with "icewm"

Good Luck,

Just to let you know the tilde (~) character means your home directory.  So if you are logged in as dsl then your ~ directory is /home/dsl.  Therefore the file would be /home/dsl/.xinitrc

You can use the ~ character anywhere you would type your home directory (i.e. cd /home/dsl = cd ~).

Hi, so it was just today that i had a chance to try this out. It worked like a charm - thanks!

(To anyone else who wants to try it out -

I couldn't find the xinitrc file using emelfm, i didn't realise at them time but its a hdden file. I could find it using midnight commander but didn't know how to save a file once you edited it.

What i did do was download the Rox .mydsl extension. This is a file browser that can be set to show hidden files. I used this to open the file in Beaver and edit as per instructions above). :)
