A snapshot of the development kernel directory is now posted in the Release Candidate area. Hopefully this will faciliate those who wish/need to compile kernel modules.

Note: This is not an extension. It is a tarball.

I want to refer again to the message, which I have already posted in the feedback area:

" Unfortunately it still doesn't run on my new computer yet.
Same as at the 3.x versions.
I have burned the 4.0 alpha image to a CD.
Messages during booting:
Scanning for USB devices .. Done.
Can't find Knoppix filesystem, sorry.
Dropping you to a (very limited) shell.
DVD drive is connected via a SATA connection.
Is it possible to solve this problem with some added parameters in the boot-menu? But which parameters? I thought I have tried this also in 3.x without success. "

In the meantime, I have tried DSL 2.1b again.
As boot-parameter, I was using " dsl sata ".
Nearly the same as with 3.x and 4.0 alpha.

With 2.1b, there is the message:
"Checking for SATA .. none".
Obviously my SATA-Samsung-DVD-Drive will not be found from DSL :-(

What else can I try?
Will you add SATA support to DSL 4.0 as well?

Thanks in advance.

Try setting ATA/IDE in your BIOS to legacy (from enhanced; this disables SATA) and see if that helps.

SATA as provided with the kernel source is avilable in DSL 4.0.
It is untested, as I do not have such drives.

I have already posted:

DSL 4 is still supporting the old scsi modules, therefore to support SATA require the sata boot option as was implemented in DSL v2.1b.

By which, I mean:

DSL v3.x does not contain SATA modules.

Try with the necessary boot option:  sata

Please can the newest version of neofb (0.4.1) be included rather than the current version.

Also move torsmo to v0.18 to deal with batteries not stored in the Bat0/1/2/... directories (for me symlinks don't seem to work to work-around this problem)
