I could do that with Knoppix itself, but its too big, and i would have to take off loooots of stuff.. thats why i wanna use DSL.

Is there any tutorial out there with the basics to remaster DSL ? Is there some extra info i need to know, or it should be similar to the Knoppix ?

Is there a way to make a knoppix-based system that do NOT use X-Free ? (just pure old good console)

If you don't want to use X free interface i can suggest to white dwarf linux(but it install's to the hd,flash). .White Dwarf Linux. Or you can remaster the DSL and you can remove the X packages by using "dpkg-get remove" command.
We are already trying to remaster the DSL but we can not do yet
