adraker -

I may be a little fuzzy here but I think the SDL packages are part of many games. You can apt-get it from the unstable branch I know. I'm not sure if there are multiple packages for SDL but I am pretty sure that the IntellivisionGamepak.dsl I put together has some SDL libs and it is pretty small.

Just give it a go and see what you get. That is the beauty of building your package on the livecd.

Good Luck

sdl id typically 3 packages   sdl-image  sdl-mixer sdl -ttf

they provide the graphics and sound links for may linux games whole lot is about 12Meg...........
could be a handy .dsl..........
dont think there is  any post install config so a candidate for deb to dsl...... not aware of any odd dependecies for the either would have a go but..... still no useable net at home.....
spying from work at the mo.......
back online 25th tho!

mpie, you raise an interesting point about the SDL.dsl that I have thought about before also.

It's really ke4nt's call. We can make the repository as modular as we want but I am not sure where you draw that line. We now have a gtk2 section so in theory you could have a SDL gaming section but that is more work for ke4nt I would think.

Now that we are getting into the gaming side of Linux with 3D and such, the repository is really becoming a sight to behold. I hope ke4nt's strength holds up. We may have to all pitch in and send him a big shipment of coffee beans! :D

mpie/clivesay:  I was thinking a very similar thing the other day, since I've recently built at least 2 extensions which require SDL libs.  I thought of maybe having the runtime libs available as individual extensions, but they're really quite small and nothing compared to gtk2.  The 12 MB you mention probably includes headers and static libs, which are unnecessary in a typical DSL system.  I put together the 8 or 9 SDL runtime libraries I have, including 2 versions of libSDL, and the whole directory is 1.4mb uncompressed and unstripped.
825k stripped and less one libSDL

Exactly. When I put together the Intellivision clones they were only a little over a meg and that is two games combined!

Maybe that is not needed in the repository but is a personal .dsl for whenever you are building games. I plan on building some more here soon. I have had good luck using alien to convert .rpm files to .deb and build apps that work in DSL.

I guess we are getting a little off topic for Frozen Bubble.  :)
