After quite a bit of help from others on the forum i have managed to get my motherboard to boot to a usbpen.  The motherboard is an Asus PCH-DL and the pen is a Crucial 512mb stick. Bios is set with legacy usb enabled, first boot device is removeable, second boot device is hard drive, third is disabled.  I suspect the hard drive is the working one as in the priority hard drive window it lists the crucial stick. Also quick boot is turned off.  Here is a very important point for all the impatient people out there. If your boot does not work first time just do ctrl-alt-del and try again. My system nerver boots first time but always boots second time!  Have fun, Hiro.
