In order to install a framebuffer driver do I need to recompile the kernal?  I'm a bit of a newbie and have installed DSL on a WinTerm thin client device.  I'd like to keep it thin and not have to load X.  But want to write a program to display JPG files.  So I figure I need the framebuffer driver.
