I raised this a couple of months ago but to no avail.  This multifunction card is clearly listed at the sourceforge pcmcia site as linux compatible, the vendor confirmed it was also.  When booting under older DSLs both card and driver codes seemed to be identified correctly but then a line would state
"get dev info on socket 1 failed: no such device" and
"this resource temporarily unavailable".  Under DSL 0.6, it starts with
"card services release does not match" then the same card identification etc.
Any information on how to get this modem working (don't need ethernet function) would be greatly appreciated.

Sorry I can't help :(
Try and narrow down your problem by using the latest copy of knoppix and see if your card is recognized (or error messages).
Also try a search of the knoppix forums if someone else has this card & problem.

Thanks anyway but I took a quicker route to the solution yesterday and did what I know I should have done in the first place namely buy an external serial modem. ( A Sitecom D-003) Goodbye Xircom card.  Yes, this post is written finally via Links on DSL 0.6 - a first for me.

It's good to cut corners :)

I always keep an old hayes external handy for testing purposes.
You never know when you need to download new drivers when somethings gone awol.
