I'd like to try out DSL-N on my laptop that is not suspending (I want the ACPI in the 2.6 kernel). I have a frugal install on the HD. The laptop does not boot from cd or usb. It's a PIII, 96Mb RAM (the max).
1. Can I achieve the switch to DSL-N by simply placing the DSL iso contents onto my hardrive (replacing the DSL versions)?
2. Can I keep the same home=, opt=, etc boot options as I have for DSL?

I believe you can just replace the contents of the iso (note that linux24 becomes linux and minirt24.gz becomes minirt.gz).

I think you may have a problem with /home and /opt in that the .* files in DSL are different to those in DSL-N.

I'm not sure 96MB RAM will be enough - are you using a swap file as well?

Note that apt-get is not (yet) built into DSL-N, you will have to use a work-around if you need to install any packages.

OK I'll give it a try. I just want to see if I can get that suspend to work (and then I can work on that resume too) :;):
Yes I have a 512Mb swap. If there are any packages I'm desperate for, there's always compiling from source, right?

Maybe...I couldn't get that to work in DSL-N whereas I can in DSL, but then I'm far from being an expert at this.
