Let me try to clear this up. I actually read this thread thinking it would help... And it did... In that it steered me in the right direction. But, it needs some clarification.

This is the correct way to install the Flash plugin for the Seamonkey Browser that comes along with DSL-N.

Launch the browser
Go to a site that you know uses Flash: like mine, for instance
When the dialog pops up asking you to grab the plug in, click it.
Download the plugin to your /home/dsl directory.

Now... There is a script in there that will help install the plugin. It may work, it may not. considering this is an obscure distro of Linux, I chose not to trust it. I tore the files needed out of the file myself. They are:
flashplayer.xpt
libflashplayer.so

Those two files need to be extracted from the GZ file. Then then need to be copied to the /home/dsl/.mozilla/plugins directory.

This can all be done easily from the ATerminal window. It worked for me.

Oh yeah... One more thing. Remember to add /home/dsl/.mozilla to your filetool.lst file.

First all of /home/dsl is already included in the backup. Therefore there should be no reason to add home/dsl/.mozilla to the .filetool.lst
Second, I had no issues with installing flash using the automated method provided by the browser. But then, even if I did, I would not be able to do much about it. But obscure distro, would have nothing to do with the installation, as the default is the home directory which is always writeable.

This is all true. I was just relating my experience to it.

btw: I didn't actually realize that all the subdirectories were included in that backup. So, that's my bad for adding that in.

The automated method provided by the browser, for me, did nothing but download the GZ file from Adobe. While that is all fine and dandy, it wasn't very obvious what to do with it after that.

That is why I started looking for a way to manually install the whole thing.

By obscure distro all I meant was that this ain't Mandrake or SuSE we're dealing with here. Some new Linux users may not even know what to do with a GZ file, much less what to run even if they read the instructions. (come to think of it, I'm not sure that that matters much. It's not like Adobe offers an RPM of the plugin anyway. It would be a bit overkill)

Anyway, it's not clearly obvious, other than the look of Seamonkey, that it is based on Mozilla. And for that, some people may not know where the files go.

So, all I was trying to do was clarify that it's possible to do it manually the way I did... Just trying to help is all.

Hello,
did it like you said - youre homepage and clickedi-click download the plugin and go on - at finishing there it comes: the freeze!

Nothing goes anymore, by the way: how to kill the hung app?
i tried first top in a terminal and kill nnn, where nnnn is the PID from top.
2. i tried to pkill xxxxxxxx , where xxxxxxxx is the COMMAND from top e.g. firefox-bin
always a single entry remains in the output of top....

any ides, thx for help
