Hi,

I've installed dsl-n.a2, running it whith qemu from a linux box.
I tried to install some apps through te mydsl extension browser, abiword or xchat for example run smoothly, but i encontered a small problem with amsn-0.94.
It installed cleanly, but i couldn't launch it by the desktop links. So i tried to launch it in command line (/opt/amsn-0.94/start_amsn), aind obtained messages complaining about tcl-k. Ok i installed tcl-tk by those nice mydsl extension browser.
Then i got this message:Error in startup script:could'nt open "lang/langfr": no such file ore directory...well, indeed i'm french, lol, but it shoud work.
have i to modify tcl scrips or there any other way?

the problem came from the fact that language files (langfr for french) are not present in /opt/amsn/lang. Maybe in a future release of the package it should be good to include those files. i created a file langfr with a single line and got amsn running in english, with connexion ok.Never mind the translation stuff for now on, just getting it running.

Very interesting.
The repository is really pointing to the DSL repository and not specific to DSL-N.
The repositiory is a user contributed area and not really the domain of the DSL/DSL-N devs.
I am still not sure how we are going to move forward, separate repositories or not.

I would think that your findings would be true for DSL proper as well.

Thanks for sharing.

FYI,
There were a couple of bugs in aMSN 0.94. I've been using the new aMSN 0.95 ver.3 that's in the testing area of the repositoy and it works much better. I haven't tried it with DSL-N yet, but a couple of issues were fixed for DSL 2.3.

It's a good new, i uses 0.95 version on another linux box and it has some functionnalites that 0.94 has not. i d'idn't know it was available on the testing area.Is there an automated (a kind of apt-get update reserved to uci or dsl packages) way to check the repositories fo a new version of a given package?
I guess robert and john get very busy those days, but an update tool for repository packages shoud be interesting.

No apt-get necessary. Just use the download site:
