My processor is AMD 2600 with ASUS mother board.

Im running DSL-N as LiveCD and if i try to play any song from mounted disks, i see the mplayer /mpg123 is playing the song well but it cannot be heard.

All sound settiings are correct and My sound card is also detected during boot.

My sound card detected is "VIA Technologies |VT8233 [AC97 Audio controller]" and sound driver is "via 82cxxx_audio"

Please help.

I already faced this problem in DSL also which so far is not solved.

Does your chip support Linux OSS ?
Perhaps it only works with ALSA ?
OSS is standard, ALSA must be made available as an extension.

Im not sure of that.
I also faced this problem in knoppix and debian distros.

But alsaconf command works well with knoppix 3.9 and it fails with debian 3.1.

As of DSL-N im not sure to work with mydsl with Live CD. So to load alsa i tried to install it to my SATA hard drive.

After installing the DSL-N while installing the boot loader it said

no BIOS on drive

and failed to install the boot loader.

I already have Mandriva on my machine. I edited the menu.lst file of grub and set the root image as linux and init as minit.gz ( i
took the entries from /boot/grub/menu.lst file from DSL-N CD).

But while booting it shows

Error: File not Found

I tried in the format of Grub specified in Mandriva and also i tried with simply copying the entry from the DSL-N CD to Mandriva's menu.lst.

Still im not able to boot.

using mydsl-load but alsaconf cannot be found.

is there any other command to configure alsa after loading alsa or any other apps need to be loaded?

Please help...

alsadebs.dsl is intended for DSL versions that are based on the linux kernel version 2.4.26

It will not work with other kernel versions such as 2.4.31 (DSL version 2.0 and 2.1 instead use alsa.dsl) or 2.6.x (DSL-N release candidates)
