I know the configuration files for the hd install are not set up for unionfs.. However, is the kernel module and utilities present in the hd install?

When doing a hd install of dsl-n; is unionfs.ko, unionctl.ko installed?

If not I'm guessing the kernel on the cd and installed on the hd are identical so I could just copy these from the cd, yes?

The unionfs module and unionctl are both there.
No different from liveCD version.

Frugal install uses unionfs... just follow the instructions elsewhere on the site.

And there are also instructions for moving your stuff into the read-only image- look for instructions on remastering.
