Hi,

I've a laptop Dell D610 with an Intel wireless card PRO Wireless 2200BG.

I have no success on get the card working.

What I did?

1. download the driver from ndiswrapper web site
2. ndiswrapper -i xxxx.inf
3. ndiswrapper -l -> shows that the driver was intalled properly
4. ndiswrapper -m -> creates the wlan0 device properly
5. depmod -a -> ok
6. modprobe ndiswrapper -> the laptop crashes

The laptop crashes when the led related with wireless is turned on.

If I repeat 1-6 with my router turned OFF, I can follow the steps below:

7. dmesg | grep ndiswrapper -> shows that the card was configured with no errors
8. iwlist -> shows the wlan0 wireless interface with all default parameters
9. all configuration for my wirelless network (ssid , wep...) -> ok
10. After turns on my router, the laptop crashes

I already had tried to use the Windows driver from Program Files/Intel/Wireless/Drivers/xxxx.inf but this driver does not configure the wireless card properly (checked with dmesg|grep ndiswrapper) and the interface wlan0 is not created.

Any clue?

I cannot live without wireless Wink

Thanks a lot!

P.S. I was trying to follow all the steps above with my router OFF and reboots my laptop, but when I do that, all configuration disapears (files on /etc, ndiswrapper config, depmod...). So, I cannot test in this way. I already had a post for this issue.

Hi,

I've already tried to start DSL-N with the following option:

acpi=off

Also I've checked my notebook BIOS and I've disable all stuff related with POWER and ports (parallel and serial).

I think I am missing something simple but I cannot figure out what Sad

I cannot use DSL without wireless.

Please someone help me...

Thanks a lot!

I have the same problem with the Dell 700m with Intel/Wireless 2915abg. I followed almost exact procedure like yours and it crashes. It crashes on both dsl and dsl-n. With the same kernel version on Fedora core 4, I can simply insert the proprietary firmware in the /lib/firmware to get the wireless work. However, it is not the case in dsl and dsl-n. I have no idea so far. I really hope someone can fix it for us. Or at least guide us how we can work around to get the wireless lan work.

Does anyone get the wireless lan work on Intel/Wireless 2915abg or similar modules?

I have just been playing with a Dell Latitude CPi and after trying out several wireless options I have found that some work straight out ofthe box and some don't. My advice is get that one that does. I have just bought a Netgear MA401 PCMCIA and it worked fine. I bought mine from Amazon but there are plenty on Ebay. The Netgear MA111 USB is also an avalible and cheap. They are both only 801.11b but that is still plenty fastenough!

There is a long detailed thread on the DSL-N problems with ipw wireless cards.

Try a search to read the info and understand the detail.
