Hi Guys

Compaq Armarda
Pentium 166MHz
48Mb ram

I've added a new user (david) and also added me (david) to sudoers. Now when I try to download something via MyDSL I get 'Not a DSL user' and the download fails. I have downloaded xmms as user dsl and copied the .xmms file into /home/david and it seems to work OK. How do I add 'david' to the dsl users?

I've also had to load the oss module for the sound card as the alsa snd-es18xx module didn't seem to be able to find the onboard sound card. I'm loading it with a small script via the .profile when I log in. Is there a simple way to add the sb module and its parameters to modules.conf or somewhere?

Otherwise things are coming together nicely - I have sound, I have my wireless card (US Robotics 11Mb PC card) working and I've managed to get dial up working. It is really good to get so much use from my old laptop!

Thanks guys!
Dave

The extenions are made for liveCD,
liveCD is not multuser, which is why extensions loading requires user dsl.

Thanks Robert - I can live with that - I'll stop trying to find a way round it now then! I'll just get the extensions I want as dsl and copy them over. That explains a few other things too. Like why the X server resets when you type 'sudo somecommand', (or 'su - dsl'). It's obvious really - when someone points it out to you.
