Apps :: changing airsnort to monitor mode

installed airsnort and tried to run it. got the error that it could not run in promicous mode. I am using it with a wg311v3 netgear card that uses nortel 88w8335 chip. Has anyone ever tried it with this card and does anyone know how to get it in monitor mode.
