Install additional packages

Problem Statement

most are now in .tgz, should be same as tar.gz, but the package installer of DSL doesn't take it. Even not after rename.

I'm not experienced in that, I guess I have to install another UNIX/Linux, unpack files and make them tar.gz again, as the only tar.gz was taken without problems

It should not be necessary to install several Linux distributions to administer any one of them. Damnsmalllinux should be able to install the .tgz files.

Have you been able to create a user name on the Forums? There has been some difficulty in doing that lately. We've been trying to get John Andrews' attention to solve that problem. If you can't create a Forum user name, please add your information to the "Forum Substitute", http://damnsmalllinux.org/wiki/index.php/Forum_Substitute
