Error Reference

This is a reference collection of common errors. Please do not post questions here - the wiki is not monitored for inquiries. Take questions to the forum where the community offers help. Finally, do your research: use Google and read the man pages.

When you share your knowledge, please:

  1. Categorize your error according to its place in the startup process (bootloader, boot, run, specific program/process).
  2. Describe the error output and/or symptoms
  3. Briefly describe your setup (especially if it's off the beaten path)
  4. Describe a reason for the error (if you don't know, try to figure it out!)
  5. Describe a solution, or describe the error as trivial or safe to ignore, etc.
