DSL installed on hard drive with apt-get and Synaptic installed.

I installed a package "gMFSK0.3-1", a ham radio application and Synaptic reports it's installed but it didn't show up on the menu or with an Icon. Searched the file system and didn't find it even though Synaptic says it's there.

I don't think you would get an icon or menu item by using synaptic to install a package - you should however have the application itself in /usr/bin or /usr/local/bin.

You could always try compiling the application yourself...

Thanks, the program runs ok but now have another question -

The version is an old one and would like to update, can I add another file repository? I think the package I need is  under "sarge" at < http://linuxappfinder.com/package/gmfsk. >

Thanks for your help,

Jerry

The problem you will probably find is that as you move to newer repositories, you will have to update many more dependencies - if you have a taste for adventure, compiling your own version would probably work better...
