ok, heres the problem.  ive got an old 486sx lappy with 4 megs of ram and a 120 meg hdd, has a floppy, but no cdrom.  currently it has "small linux" on it with about an 20 meg swap partition.  i would  LOVE to be able to somehow get DSL on this machine, but im not sure how to go about doing it with no cdrom and such a small hdd.  also there is the problem of so little ram, i would appreciate any suggestions of how i might go about doing this.  oh also, i have a parellel port zip drive, i was thinking maybe i could find a way to boot from it, but im not sure if its possible.

I don't think that you will be able to run X-Windows from a computer with 4Megs of RAM, even something like DSL.

You may be able to get it to boot in console (text) mode with the 'knoppix 2' boot command.

Good Luck.
