Everything working great.  No problems with video on the wide screen.  One thing, it doesn't identify the port replicator but who cares.  DSL looks great on the xbrite 17 inch screen.

What do you put at the boot: prompt?
I am suggesting that you use "toram" to free up the cdrom drive, to play music
cd's using XMMS.
I do this:
boot: knoppix restore toram
--
On a DELL XP machine, I do this:
boot: knoppix vga=normal restore toram
---
:D

Thanks, I do that and its great.  With mplayer.dsl I've just been watching Return of the King on DVD.  All running fast from RAM with RAM to spare, that is why DSL is so good on newer machines as well as older ones, it is highly flexible.  Since the VAIO is a new machine I'm reluctant to dump Win XP but I seldom boot it.  I used  HD installed DSL on my 300 Mhz 64 meg Presario laptop till this week and really liked it so I'm gonna stick with it.
