Greetings

Great little distro and thank you  

My problem is I'm using a Us robotics  Pci modem model 5610b  56K
It works fine in Knoppix, Mepis, PclinixOs Ect...
in order to make it work in the other distros i just set my com ports to
ttyS4  com 5

cd /dev
./MAKEDEV ttyS4
ln -s ttyS4 modem
chmod 777 ttyS4
chmod 777 modem

Also i have set up PPPconf thru the menus and use pon to start dial and poff to stop

When i do this with DaMN  i can hear the dial tone but modem fails to  dial.  kinda  like it fails to initialize the modem
Any ideas or tools are appreciated

You might try microcom to talk to the modem directly.  If you can then use atdt to dial a number.

EXAMPLE:     atdt555555

ath should make it hang up.

If this works then the modem is fine and there is still other configuration issues.  Possibly need to use wvdial to dial out.
