Hi, I just installed DSL on an old laptop and there seems to be a problem with the sound-- it's all choppy (I'm using the `sb' module). Anyway, I'm not sure how to fix this, but I'm thinking that maybe replacing OSS with ALSA may work. Does anyone have any ideas?

Thanks,

I also tried to install ALSA but you need gcc / make so get those from apt-get then, if apt-get has it, alsa. Good luck!

But do you think alsa will improve audio playback?

I think it would, but it might depend on the sound card itself. Also I've found that you can install it via a .deb binary or apt-get, so g/l, I'm also trying to install ALSA because I have NO sound, sigh... Anyway I'd give it a shot, if it doesn't help then just remove it.
