Hi guys,
have a question ....

My system is :
p166, 80 mb ram, sb16, 24xcdrom
rtl8029 pci,
ati pc2tv with daugtherboard tuner (isa)

with
DSL Linux 2.4.20-xfs

I'm trying to install Muse (mpeg3 streamer) with
apt-get install muse (apt installed muse without complains)

but when I try to start muse I receive error :
muse: error while loading shared librairies : libGL.so.1: cannot open shared object. file: No such file or directory

i dont have libGL.so.1 (find / libGL -print | grep libGL)

please help  :(

(next step: install tvtuner (ati isa))

usr/X11R6/lib/libGL.so.1  ->  libs/xlibmesa3-gl

Code Sample
apt-get install xlibmesa3-gl

You don't have OpenGl installed.

I have a feeling apt will want you to install the fullblown version of X after this.  You may want to build muse from source to see if you can alleviate the prepackaged dependancy.  It may work, it may not, just a thought.

Code Sample
apt-get source -b muse

Have you considered icecast?
Code Sample
apt-get install icecast2
It's in unstable and doesn't require OpenGl, although it _does_ require quite a few other libs.

hi Grim,

maybe I need to update my apt sourve list ?
:p

Well, here's my sources.list...
Code Sample
deb ftp://ftp.us.debian.org/debian/ testing main non-free contrib
deb-src ftp://ftp.us.debian.org/debian/ testing main non-free contrib
deb ftp://ftp.us.debian.org/debian/ unstable main non-free contrib
deb-src ftp://ftp.us.debian.org/debian/ unstable main non-free contrib
deb ftp://ftp.debian.org/debian/ testing main non-free contrib
deb-src ftp://ftp.debian.org/debian/ testing main non-free contrib

# Security
deb http://security.debian.org/ testing/updates main contrib non-free

# Mplayer
deb ftp://ftp.nerim.net/debian-marillat/ unstable main

# Fontconfig2
deb http://www.tu-harburg.de/~vkv/debian ./

...and I didn't have a problem finding icecast2, however, I am using a couple of unofficial repositories in my sources.list.  They are unsupported, but, so far, I haven't had a problem with them.  YMMV.

If you ever feel adventurous, you can always look for unsupported repositories, or hard-to-find packages at < apt-get.org >.

Foll.UP

I'm reinstalling DSL 0.6
glad to see Midnight Commander is in there !!!

Will try icecast2 again but until now, no show :(
also found oddcast that works with xmms... maybe ...
but I would prefer to stream directly from the dsl box
and then open a port on the router.

will report result and the howto maybe ...

I got dsl 0.6.2 up and running !
I love it ! it's having Midnight Commander
finally..

had some problem with my serial mouse
(ln -s /dev/ttyS0 /dev/mouse; startx) solved the problem.

but then everything got in place !

I installed Icecast2. Didn't notice any problem during install.
But now I need to figure out how it's working :(

This is what I want to do:
Broadcast music on port 8000
and the source is a mp3 cd on the icecast box...

Is it possible to do that ?

thanks for your reply

It's a little tricky to get going, but once you get your head wrapped around the configuration, modifying it to your needs shouldn't be that difficult.

There's an unofficial HOWTO at < http://quasi.ksl.com/icecast/chap_05.html > that should get you going.

You're also going to need some way to setup a hostname that's reachable from the net.  Try < http://no-ip.com/ > or < http://dyndns.org/ >

:D
I upgraded my dsl-distro to 0.6.2
I got Shoutcast on that machine in no
time 'cause (the server and sender) are
binaries !!

Add to tweak the config files and AND
I have my own webradio YESSSSSSS !

Reminder :
P166, 80 mb ram
600mb Harddrive
10 m/b connection to internet
cpu stats : 70%
Ram Stats : 2.4 mb free
swap in use : 200kb

Case close hehehe

Kick ass Steph.  You should post the URL, I'd love to hear the stream.  You know, unless it's polka, 80's hair metal, or anything by Phish.

The PC is not doing anything but broadcasting music
with Shoutcast. no reboot, none-stop ! testing

for winamp and xmms

Now I'm looking for mixing software ...
you know, adds and annonces and everything not music

btw it's a personal research and test, not aiming at commercial.
I'm now looking for test2speech, I will not play the DJ...
What a better way than TTS hehehe
TTYL !

If you're looking to DJ using Ice/shoutcast, you could always try  < Darkice >.  There's also < LiveIce > (of LinuxRadio fame).

Nice to hear your DSL box online !

Tnx fer the link..

Please post more details on how you accomplished this.
( tweaks to files, mp3s from cd, sources of files, etc.)

Can you monitor the stream from the same box, or
do you need to use another computer to listen?

I've got an old cpu or 2, and my kids would get a kick
out of setting up a stream with their favs.
