I have a HDD install here and when I run mydsl-load with an extension, nothing happens.. no error.. just nothing.

If I do mountci <extension> I can copy the files manually.. but I wonder why mydsl-load doesnt work on the HDD install. If I run DSL from a CD on the same pc, I can do mydsl-load without a hitch.

.unc extensions do not work on a HD install - did you try to use that?

Makes you wonder why anyone would want to do a HD install in the first place.

That doesn't really make me wonder at all. UNC packages are designed to save ram when using a LiveCD/frugal system. There really isn't any benefit at all to using this package type if you have a HDD install....might as well just use *.dsl since your filesystem is on harddrive and entirely writable and persistent.

..as long as a .dsl version exists. I haven't tried running unc2dsl yet.

I didn't know there was an unc2dsl
What I would do is mount the unc as uci rather than unc. You should end up with a directory in /opt that can now have its contents copied to the main filesystem.
