I have finally been able to hard disk install from a DOS partition 'live' into a linux partition.  DSL version 0.5.1.1 changes enabled this but it stll took ten attempts.  The fb800x600 live boot parameter now no longer is possible so
I want to edit my lilo.conf file to change the vga=xxx setting (as per Crotalus' posts on this elsewhere).  I can only use the console at the moment.  How exactly can I access/open/edit this file?
(Newb or what?!)

Try nano, it is easy to use.
