I just downloaded the new DSL .5 and I am having trouble with the colors on the screen.  The resolution is fine but for some reason everything looks like it's running in either 256 or 16 color mode.  this is after selecting a higher bit mode.  Any ideas on what might be wrong?

Also, the color count isn't just low, but many of the colors are just plain wrong.

What computer are you using?

I'm running a Dell Optiplex GX 260 at school.  I haven't tested it at home yet.

You know, some of the newer Dells I've tested on just don't render right with the Xvesa server.  I think they may be abandoning the Vesa standards?

You may want to try on of the larger Knoppix off-shoots, that have accelerated servers.

I was using knoppix at first, but I wanted a small linux distro that has a built in vnc viewer so I can acess my home computer and work off it and still be working in a linux environment.  I know that once I have acess via vnc I have linux right there even in windows but I don't want to have to deal with the lag for every little thing I do in linux.  But if the video doesn't work on these machines, it doesn't work.  Still a great distro.  It does what it has to do so I'll still use it.  The messed up video isn't that big of a deal.  I'll try it on a few other machines on campus and see what comes up.
