Networking :: belkib f5d7010 wireles pcmcia

Yeah, yeah- another poor smuck trying to get his wireless card working :)

It's a Belkin f5d7010. I'm on DSL 0.83, so I ran ndiswrapper from the GUI and gave it the pcmciabcnwl5.inf file from the Belkin disk.

The card's in dmesg:

cs: cb_alloc(bus 6): vendor 0x14e4, device 0x4320

cardctl ident shows it as:

Socket 0:
 no product info available
Socket 1:
product info: "Broadcom", "802.11g CardBus", "4.5"
 manfid: 0x02d0, 0x0417
 function: 6 (network)

ndiswrapper -l gives

Installed ndis drivers:
pcmciabcmwl5 hardware present

modprobe ndiswrapper returns without error.

At that point, i expected to see an ndiswrapper wlan0 entry in dmesg. There's nothing.

ifconfig shows only the loopback interface.

Any suggestions?

Thanks,

Mark

An update:

I found my pcmcia card on the ndiswrapper confirmed list at sourceforge.net, and started over, using their bcmwl5.inf  driver file instead of the one that came with my card. Lo & behold, when I do a a modprobe ndiswrapper the power lite on the card comes on, and I get a wlan0 entry in the system log. wlan0 now shows up when I do an iwconfig.

My problem now seems to be that I am not able to configure the card's essid , channel, etc, via iwconfig. The commands execute, but the card's configuration remains unchanged. I've seen posts here where folks bypass iwconfig & use wlan-ng to config their cards, but I haven't quite got my head around that yet. As always, suggestions are appreciated.

Did you try removing the myndis.sh file from /opt ,
then rerunning the ndiswrapper gui in DSLpanel ?

There are option boxes in the gui to put eSSID, WEP, and Channel.
Just point to that new .inf file you found that works.

Works for me with both the CARDBUS MN-720 and PCI MN-730

Well, the power supply on my laptop crapped out last evening, so I won't be pursuing using this card at the moment. Thanks for the post, though.

I m trying to set my Belkin  FD507010 as well. Seems you people are on good tracks. So can anyone post me a link to the correct working driver ?

I'm Using dell's: the card is "hardware present" in NDISWRAPPER but the led doesn't light up...
Also i can't get a wlan0...
