I think the world of e-ink readers (Sony, Kindle ...) has arrived, and solves the problem of energy efficiency and building libraries.  I'm guessing this will be the next "olpc" move.  (of course, the child would probably have less access to pornography, chat rooms, and computer viruses) :(
