USB booting :: Knoppix Filesystem not found, sorry...



if it's a bios issue, a good idea is to test it on another pc.
U3 causes problems with all Linuxes, it's a M$-only solution. You gotta delete it first, before trying using it as a normal usb stick......

What problems does it cause? I use U3 sticks all the time between Linux, Microsoft, and (on REALLY bad days) Macs and there's never a problem. The only Linux (and Mac) "issue" is that I can't authenticate running Windows, even under WINE, so I can't mount the U3 pseudo-partition. This doesn't bother me at all.

There are benefits to leaving U3 on sticks, especially if you have to use a Windows computer. Many apps that can run between platforms are U3-friendly. They include Open Office 2.0+ and Firefox and Thunderbird. I can do all my OO work from the USB stick in Windows without leaving a trace -- all settings, prefs, files, etc. stay on the USB stick -- on the host machine and without rebooting to run Linux and then I have all my files on the USB stick when I'm back on my Linux or BSD computer.

BTW, I've had no trouble using DSL on USB with the U3 pseudo-partition intact. It IS a normal USB stick even with U3.
I've never owned one, but seen many complains about those sticks not working properly if U3 is not deleted

I own several sticks with U3. My experience just doesn't support that. :-)
