myDSL Extensions (deprecated) :: How to use .dsl's in the HD?
Excuse me, I'm newbie!
I have installed Damn Small in the hard disk. Now I want to use .dsl extensions. Where i have to put the files and how to install them?
Also, I want to use isos .ci, how can i do that?
Thanks!
dsl will do all this for you just click on the link in mydsl click and load for stable .dsl's if you want to try testing ones bear in mind there could be error's although I i have not experienced many myself, it is best to wget them- right click on the link copy link location oper a xterm type wget then paste the link press enter when it has finished downloading open elefm highlight the .dsl file then click on the mydsl button and it is all done
I think ci's only work with live disk
For .dsl files
bring up XShell --> Root
mydsl-load yourprogram.dsl
or use Emelfm (a file manager)
There is a little button to load mydsl apps.
Another choice is using Click and Run like mpie said.
It is on the desktop.
Cool, but, again: Where on the hard drive do the extensions go? Or does it not matter?
Where the extension goes (loads) depends the the extension or the extension builder.
all .ci are mounted under /opt
all .tar.gz install into /opt , /home/dsl and /tmp
all .dsl extensions cause the system to be altered with more system directories made writeable at the expense of the ramdisk. Doing so, the .dsl usually installs in the typical directory structure as when installing to a normal hard drive install.
