Other Help Topics :: trying perl tk

Hey, has anyone tried to create a perl tk program on dsl?  I tried to use the routine command that the perl books say to use which is  perl -MCPAN -e shell.  I get a message saying that CPAN can not be located.

Has anyone else dealt with this?
Has anyone had success making perl tk work on dsl?
Seems like it would be a good match if can get past the basic install stuff.

Thx,
