Other Help Topics :: hang at gray screen

I'll run DSL but it will hang at the gray screen with the X on it.
The computer is very old (Presario CDS 524). Does anyone have any suggestions.

BTW: I had to use a Smart Boot floppy disk to get the cd to boot (bios too old).

Type in:

lowram

at the boot prompt.
