Other Help Topics :: ipod read only?

i tried to mount my ipod (/dev/sda)
and then i went in to emelfm with root privelages but when i try to copy files over to the ipod it says "cp: cannot create directory `/mnt/sda/win98': Read-only file system"
it also says that in xterm.
or when i try to create a dir on sda it says"mkdir: Cannot create directory `/mnt/sda/<dir>': Read-only file system
