how do i setup a printer is there something special i have to download?

Have you tried this:

right click on the desktop
go to
System
then
Printing/Lpd
then
configure printer

You will have to read all that is says to undertand what it is asking, but it is fairly simple.
I have not tried a Lexmark before but 4 HP printers have worked fine for me.
You may have to set it up more than once to get the right driver loaded.
Be sure to click reload once you have setup your printer.
