Other Help Topics :: Hi new to DSL linux

Hi i just downloaded burned 1.5 ISO to my CD-RW and rebooted and waited and nothing happens ? what is wrong ???
Hmm... Could be a few things I guess. Is your bios set to boot from the cdrom first? Also when you burned the cd, did you use an option such as "burn image"? Just trying to get rid of some of the more obvious explanations. Beyond that can you give anymore detail?
yeah i had the same problem....

and my bios is set to boot to cdrom
and i dont know if i burnt it right but if you look at whats in the cd it shows a few icons for example - boot, KNOPPIX, lost+found, and index
oh and the cd name was renamed to KNOPPIX

btw im new to linux

Try the disk on a different computer to see if it works.

You need to make sure that your computer BIOS has the CDROM boot priority set to higher than the hard drive boot priority.

Some CD-RW disks do not work well with some computers.  Try re-burning it as a CD-R disk.

My advice is to use Nero to do the burning.  Exit all Nero Express wizards to get back to the old Nero screen.

If using Nero 5.x, choose

File -> Burn Image

from the top menu.

For Nero 6.x, choose

Recorder -> Burn image

from the top menu.

If your computer does not support booting from a CDROM drive, you will need to create a DSL boot floppy disk:
