Try typing in:

dsl xsetup

at the first boot prompt.

Then try some of the various xvesa server graphics resolutions.

You might consider that you have a bad or incompatible CD or it was created from a bad image. I once had a batch of CD's that created similar problems. In some cases I could get them to boot if I used the toram option. It seems the start/stop operation of normal reads caused errors.
