Sinan: As far as I know, "broken pipe" is saying that tar cannot write to the target. Is hda1 the same partition that holds DSL? If so, try booting with the "frugal" option to make this partition writeable.
aldsl: I don't know anything about the install scripts. One thing you could do is boot DSL from the CD and copy /cdrom/KNOPPIX to hdc2. I'm not sure what you'd do for bootloader. I want to say try the grub myDSL extension, but I don't know how it works...I already had grub installed from another distro when i started using DSL.

No, I'm booting from CD...but it's not a big problem now since I gotta USB flash card and I'm saving to that...
You get the broken pipe if you edit the .filetools file in normal user mode. Run emelfm.bin as superuser and that should fix it, I think.
