I have searched the forums on how to make DSL startup with the icons showing. As I have not found anything I figured out that this works. I thought that I would share it with others.

Add “xtdesk &“ to the second to last line of file:/home/damnsmall/.xinitcr

I would restore the xinitrc to normall instead edit the xinit
in there you will see the lines for booting to enhanced comment them out with # this will have the effect you want.
fluxbox needs to be the last line...
