Other Help Topics :: slypheed mail problem

My mail directory in home/dsl seems to dissapear everytime i restart my DSL (error in sylpheed that it can't write when getting mail). When i mannualy make new directories in home/dsl Sylpheed doesn;t give that error and i can get my mail again. But after a restart it is gone again. I start DSL with a restore so i guess it has got to do something with that. (last changes i made in filetools.lst are:
opt/ppp
opt/bootlocal.sh
opt/powerdown.sh
home/dsl/filetool.lst
home/dsl/.fluxbox
home/dsl/.fluxbox/styles
home/dsl/.fluxbox/backgrounds
home/dsl/.xtdesktop
home/dsl/.xinitrc
home/dsl/.xserverrc
home/dsl/.dillo
home/dsl/.emelfm
home/dsl/.mplayer
home/dsl/.xine
home/dsl/.xmms
etc/X11/fluxbox
home/dsl/.opera
opt/opera
home/dsl/.sylpheed
home/dsl/mail
home/dsl/.bash_profile

Any ideas?

Your mail line

" home/dsl/mail "

in your filetool.sh needs to be..

" home/dsl/Mail "

...with a Capital M in Mail

Did that, didn't work. I made Mail/Drafts/Send/Queue/Trash manually in home/dsl and changed it in the filetools.lst (Mail) But i still get a write-error when Sylpheed wants to write the mail to home/dsl/Mail....
1.
shutdown sylpheed

2.
Your Mail is gone after the reboot. so you can delete the /home/dsl/Mail folder you created and nothing is lost.
delete /home/dsl/Mail

3.
start sylpheed
it will ask you for a folder to store the mail. why not let it be what sylpheed sugests.

4.
make sure /home/dsl/Mail is in filetool.lst.

5.
i gues you have made a typo in creating the Mail/.. forder or the owner/permisions are not write.

Tried all sorts of thing (also what you suggested). Still no sigar... (it didn't work)

my filetools.lst:
opt/ppp
opt/bootlocal.sh
opt/powerdown.sh
home/dsl/filetool.lst
home/dsl/.fluxbox
home/dsl/.fluxbox/styles
home/dsl/.fluxbox/backgrounds
home/dsl/.fluxbox/init
home/dsl/.xtdesktop
home/dsl/.xinitrc
home/dsl/.xserverrc
home/dsl/.dillo
home/dsl/.emelfm
home/dsl/.mplayer
home/dsl/.xine
home/dsl/.xmms
etc/X11/fluxbox
home/dsl/.opera
opt/opera
home/dsl/.sylpheed
home/dsl/Mail
home/dsl/.bash_profile
home/dsl/.xtdeskrc

I deleted all accounts in Sylpheed and rebooted.. (which gives me a thought.. i always backup when i make mayor changes to the system, what happenes if there is NO Mail-directory in home/dsl and it is still backup-ed?) I am gonna try editting the filetools.lst (deleting dsl/home/Mail, make a backup and then see what will happen)
