Other Help Topics :: A few questions from a newbie
Hi, I am completely new to linux and would like to try it, but I do not have an extra HDD so I have read that this would work on a USB memory stick.
Would I just have to download it and put it on the flash drive?
And is there any danger that it would harm my Windows installation?... Would it do anything with my HDD while it's running?
Thank you,
John
You will need to download the ISO and burn the image to a cd. Boot with the cd and use the Install to USB Pendrive item in the menu.
If you have a NTFS partition, you can't do anything to your windows install, unless you know how to remount it RW and do it intentionally, if not ntfs, it will only do what you do to it.
In other words, it will not harm your M$ install whatsoever.
Have fun, and...

Thanks for the reply!
So I won't need the "bootusb-0.8.img" for anything?
And if I want my USB stick back I can just erase it?
Thanks,
John
yep you got it!!!!
I tried burning the .iso to a CD-RW and booting but it just said "F1 to retry, or F2 to enter setup menu".
Thanks,
John
