Other Help Topics :: ISO image

Stupid question from a newb. When I burn the iso image to CD it's just that, an iso image. How do I get the file stucture instead? I'm using Iomega HotBurn.
Thanks so much.

I am not sure what you mean, when you burn the iso you get a bootable cd (with this content: boot/ lost+found/ knoppix/ + index.html). In the knoppix map there is a file with the same name (knoppix) which is a compressed file that contains the file structure that you mentioned. (that is, i think that is what you mean with file structure). When you boot from this cd and do a full HD-install then the whole stucture is written down on the HD (i think, never tried that though)   :D
I think what mecarte is asking is how to burn an ISO file into a bootable CD.

Patrick, make sure you are not using the "create data cd" setting in your cd burning software. That will just burn a cd with DSL-blah.iso on the CD.

Somewhere in the program should be a "create CD from ISO image" or "Use ISO image"

Actually, I found this link for you:

Hotburn info on burning from ISO image

Good luck!

Actually, what I think he may be asking is, how can you manipulate the KNOPPIX file system under windows? This information would come in handy for us noobs who want to remaster DSL (including adding and deleting programs) in a Windows (shudder) Environment.
Hi,

Why CD-ROM with only ISO file (dsl-0.9.1) don't boot ?
Maybe i don't burn all the files i need ?

Thank you for your help
