Other Help Topics :: i_scribe
I am testing i-scribe (from testing depository) but i can't get a sound/notification... (i tried: just filling in the name of the wav-file, and: play <name wav-file>. But no sigar)
Pop-up screen usually doesn't pop up on the workspace that i am at... ( it does pop up in the workspace that i-scribe is hanging out though)..
I hope that these "bugs?" can be fixed because i hate Sylpheed
(why? because my ~/Mail-folder keeps disappearing from time to time, because it has no notification-options, It does how-ever supports multiple accounts!
)
In the year I 've used sylpheed, the only time I've ever lost my /Mail folder
was when I accidently overwrote my backup with another install ..
And while I do access multiple accounts with it,
it's just not as elegant as some other mail apps ..
For sounds that are commanded via a " play" line in their setups,
you need the "play" utility.. It is not in DSL natively..
Grab the sox-12.17.3.dsl package from the repository.
It has the rec/play tools you need to make those work ..
( the wmclockmon has options for sound notification as well )
any other " bugs " you find should be directed to
the developers of iscribe, rather than the DSL staff..
Developers usually like "bug" reports.. It means someone is using their stuff !

Patrick, just spotted your post in passing. I really wanted iscribe to work but after loading and configuring account, I always got 'could not connect to server' and a 'socket 34' error message. Fret at Memecode acknowledged this linux version problem. Did you have this and, if so, how did you get round it somehow. I still think, with its calendar, and general interface and features, that this would make a great substitute for Sylpheed in the base DSL iso.
