Other Help Topics :: installing DSL through a server

Hello -

In the documentation if instead of grabbing the iso and the frugal_lite.sh off the internet is there a way to grab them off a server that sits in a folder? Would I have to change the frugal_lite.sh script to ftp to my server instead of internet address's?? thanks!

I guess id have to somehow configure my ethernet card to connect to my server...and i noticed that the dsl boot disk doesn't come with that ability....i tried TOMSRTBT but it doenst' recognize the ethernet card....Does anyone else know where to get bootable floppies with netcard configuration files?? Thanks!!

Anyone? Anyone?
Generally speaking,

tomsrtbt is about the best possible floppy disk option for linux networking.

There are other floppy-based linuxes around but if Tom's doesn't work, my guess is that they won't work either.

If your computer is older and is not using some bizarre network card, then my guess is that Tom's will work with it but you need to do extra work in order to activate the right driver like doing a modprobe xxx  and then add the appropriate irq= or io= values.

This is especially true if you have an ISA network card, which was popular in most older Pentium-1 and 486 computers.
